The bathroom window turned out SOOOOOOO GORG!!!!! I’m OBSESSED! I keep walking into the bathroom just to look at it, LOL This is exactly what should have been in the first place, it looks so natural and feels like home! Why aren’t homes built with framing around the windows any more? I honestly think the way they do windows in new homes is just ugly and plain and looks so cheap.
You can see we didn’t add any wood framing on the “inside” drywall areas as is normally done in older homes, we just painted it the same as the frame so it will all blend well. This way was easier and more cost effective. We painted an inch of white on the wall so that you couldn’t see any dark around the inside of the window area. And then repainted about 3 inches of the dark chocolate wall around outside of that so that we wouldn’t have to paint around the window when we go and finish the bathroom updating and painting of the walls again. This actually makes our tiny window look bigger!
Uggg, I take such bad pictures, but in person, this is just so sharp and pretty! For the trim, we used a Polystyrene (plastic) moisture resistant chair rail moulding. Martin cut, glued it together, then painted it as if it were a frame. He then glued it with liquid nail to the wall. The drywall inside the window was painted with white semi-gloss, the same as the frame. We finished off the window with a beautiful 2 1/2″ Faux Wood Blind in White.
I will update the cost after I have gone over our receipts!
